Hey all, haven't been here for awhile. I had a quick question - I just picked up Nod and realized he was bleeding at his stomach. He had a scent gland tumor removed last April, but fully recovered and I hadn't noticed it coming back. But he was bleeding. I set him back down, and I saw that he is chewing at the wound intently. Any idea on what to do for him? He has been having nose bleeds occasionally too, and a week ago his ear kept on bleeding. I'm starting to wonder if maybe I need to just have him put to sleep, he seems to be bleeding and probably in pain a lot. =(
He is about 2 and a half years old now.
Any suggestions?

obviously take him to the vets. you mention a previous tumor, which makes me think that it has come back, but maybe much smaller and in a different place due to scars from the last surgery?
a bleeding animal is bad - you need to find out what's wrong and discuss his options with your vet. it doesnt sound like he's very healthy, you really need to tell your vet everything that's happened.
good luck to you and Nod.

I was going to take him last week for the ear bleeding, but of course as soon as I scheduled the appointment it stopped, and has been fine since. Now this. I unfortunately can't take him tomorrow (I have an exam, otherwise I'd just skip classes), so he'll have to wait until Tuesday to see the vet. Just wondering if there is anything I can do for him now, while I wait. (=

Make him as comfortable as possible! I know it's difficult for people sometimes due to lifestyles and commitments, but truly I would have been straight to the vet regardless of whether thebleeding had stopped. It's a sign that something isn't right, and I am just hoping you haven't left it too long. Fingers crossed.
Nod is still only a young gerbil, as their average life span is 5-6 years, sometimes longer.
I wish you and Nod lots of luck, and please keep us informed:)

awwww I hope hes ok. Hes kinda in the middle on age. Hes certainly not young but hes not old either. But I hope the vet can figure out something for him. Please keep us updated on him. You both will be in my thoughts and prayers.
