I just thought I'd post an update for all my old buddies here and the newbies.

Of course you all know that Pixie had her foal, and we had complications, and I think we left off at the meds. Well, he has been off the meds for a couple weeks now and outside. He is a little booger. He thinks so much of himself. It is so bad sometimes that his mother will take him and leave him with the white mare and take a break from him. The white mare doesn't mind. She didn't have a baby this year, and is best buds with Pixie.

He's a RAT! (But a good one. hehehe. Lots of talent this guy has)

And we have been very busy weaning. We have six of the seven older ones in the barn now.

Here are the older colts, minus one who I need to work with a bit more before "flashing" him.

Oh I just love every one of these babies.

the Bay Colt- Incredibly refined, and sweet. You can't get within ten feet of his mother, and we never handled him except for doctoring him right after he was born, but at five months, it was his idea that neck scratches in the field were just okay.

Blue- (my GIRL!) She's got five gaited written all over her.

Princess- the quiet one. She looks just like her mother.

Shorty George- this kid can't put his head in a bad spot. He may be small(not our fault), but he wants to be a Saddlehorse.

the Black Colt- a good thinker. I picked his feet up for the first time today. When I went for the second one, he picked it up for me. What a marvelous boy. And talented.

the Chestnut Colt- we haven't had a stall open up for him yet, so he hasn't been brought in. He is very inquisitive and has a really intelligent eye. He is a real nice baby.

Here are just some random pictures of some of them.

I hope you like them. I can't wait for these guys to grow up. They have so much talent and potential, that I want to see them out in the world and doing.

Man I love these kids. They are all so unique in so many ways that I can't play favorites.

Oh yeah, and old guys, remember Dream, Shorty's mom, who came to us almost starved to death?

Now that we have pulled Shorty off of her, she is picking up weight even faster than before. She now looks like a horse, not a skeleton.

Oh, my poor little one.

Aww, after yesterday, I think I may need a foal winter blanket for my poor little guy.

I came home from work yesterday, and it had been raining all day long. A real chilly rain, at that. I asked how my poor little baby colt was taking the rain, and mom said he looked miserable. I asked if I could bring him in the barn, and mom said yes, if I wanted to brave the mud, rain and grouchy mares. For my little one I do.

When I got out there, I saw his mother up at the barn and he was sandwiched and shivering between two other mares, neither of which were his mother, off away from the barn. I went up to the poor miserable boy, told him to come on and he followed me to the barn, and I let him in.(he's like a dog) When I went to put a leash(yes a dog leash) on my mare to bring her in with her baby, he was giving me back scratches from inside the barn. He wasn't biting, because he doesn't hold back with his bites(nor do I with my spank for biting. he doesn't bite much anymore.) The mare was a little uneasy about being in, but my poor little baby couldn't have been happier. He layed down in the hay as soon as he got a quick snack from momma. "Ahh, nice and warm."

My sisters told me the other day it was warmer and sprinkling, and they went up to play with the weanlings in the barn. After about five minutes they heard whinnying at the door of the barn. It was my colt, wanting to be let in out of the rain. They let him in(without momma. who knows where she was. she leaves him with the other mares all the time) on one condition: he had to work. So they put the baby halter on him and led him around. After a little while, he wanted back out, rain or not. These people are NUTS!

If it were a warm summer rain, I would have just let the little prissy boy melt, but this is a chilly rain, and he is just a little baby.
