Anybody here have chinese dwarf hamsters? A girl not too far from me is needing to re-home hers so i told her id take him. He is by himself,no roomies. I was reading up on them, says they can be agressive towards their own kind and arent good hams to try to hold. So we shall see i guess. I will be getting a pic of him later on,so ill show yas lol. I found 3 more in the ne philly area, but since they can be agressive prolly cant put them all together. Ah well, i think the other 3 are taken already anyways. Some dumb butt got them for their 4 year old daughter. Uhhh what ??? Lmao. Anyways, ill post the pic when i get it.

It's not that they are mean, and hard to hold, it's just that dwarf hamsters are harder to tame than Syrians. They are very finicky and skiddish. Definitely not for a 4 year old, that's for sure. Good luck little guys.
As far as your own, just take your time. Patience is key. I find a fast way to tame dwarfs is to do a lot of hand feeding. It gets them used to your scent, as well as them learning that you give them yummy things.
Hmmm...what else...don't feed too many sunflower seeds a day. I'd say 3 is good. They're fatty for dwarfs. And in their cage(we all recomend a bin cage, those plastic bins that are $5-$15 at target, they supply lots of room, very easy to clean, and super cheap) have lots of hiding places. I find they are much more involved in "toys" and hiding spots than Syrians.

Well i got my hammy. I named him Rambo lol. Was in a way too tiny of a cage even though he is quite small himself. He is tamed woohoo. Comes right to ya,climbs on ya hand. Doesnt really run around a whole lot just kinda hangs on with his wee wittle paws. Man hes a got big hind end hehe. But its cute haha. I got a few piccies so ill post em later. Only issue i have is that all he wants to do is run in his wheel non stop. All day all night. So i took it away . Was that mean? Im pretty sure his running all day and night drove my syrian Caramel nuts. I know he needs his sleep during the day to stay healthy and whatnot. I gave it to him at night, but took it away in the morning. He does have other things to do,places to hide. So i hope thas ok. I had to redo Caramels tubes he keeps filling em up with his stash, lil stinker. So i added tubes onto the other side so he had two ways to go up to the next cage and then to the top. He is connected to three cages. Rambo my dwarf is in the CT outlook right now with two addons, one the loop d loop thing and a tube circle thingy lol. It has a huge wheel but he is too small to move it. Poor guy. He likes to hide out under the den part behind the wheel or in his strawberry. So anyways, ill post some piccies of my babies for yas. Thanks Steph and Robocop. BTW your robos in ya avatar are just too darn cute! I wanna robo now lol.
