Hey guys! I haven't been on petshub for a long time.
I recently got a very cute 4year old stb mare, off the track. She needs to get much fatter, seeing as I can almost hang my coat on one of her ribs :( .
I have had her on cool calories, beetpulp, and a senior/hardkeeper feed, plus hay of course... What do you guys feed to get your ponies fattened up? What rations should I be feeding? Shes worm free, teeth are up to date... wow I wish I had my horses metabolism :p

Have you checked out Horsecity.com's forums? They have half a million topics on such a problem as yours.

I would also suggest ultimatehorsesite.com 's horse forum. Everyone there has great advice.

Good luck with your horse! Sarge is always fat so i don't have any problems keeping weight on him. haha. xD

Beat Pulp puts weight on fast, and it is great for their intestinal tract. It also does not make them hot, which is a big plus.

Hah, I just got kicked off HorseCity for a month, because I reported a post from one of the Admins. HAH! They are a touchy group it seems. It is not going to change a thing.

haha. You should come to UHB. Everyone is so nice and helpful. And the mods are actually active. haha. I have learned so much from UHB. There are some really good riders on there too.

I looked around there. It seems like the majority seem to be dressage type english folks. It is hard to find decent Saddlebred/Saddleseat supportive sites that aren't breed specific. I am an avid "Trotter"(trot.org) and "M-Ser"(modern-saddlebred.com), just to relax with folks of my "world". I may look around some more though.

I've always had good luck with beet pulp and a product called omega-bran. Also make sure you let him/her eat all the hay that it wants.
