Horrible news

about a month ago Sebastian had gotten out of our house and outside. I wasn't too worried, he had done it before, and came back after a couple hours to get some food and because he wanted back inside. He didn't come. I called for him, I looked around the neighborhood, I asked neighbors if they had seen him, I checked the SPCA, I asked around at rescues, I put up flyers, my mom put ads in the paper. He disappeared...Today Paris got outside through my window. She is absolutely terrified of the outdoors, and when she gets outside she is afraid of humans, EVEN me who inside she loves. I saw her run under our house, so I called for her and stood at the vent where she got under the house at. I got wet cat food, I tried to get her to come for me for over an hour. Finally I called my best friend and asked if he would go under my house with me (Its a dirty crawl space filled with spiders, wild rats,etc)..but we went down there to look for her. I didn't find her, but we found Sebastian...He was dead. He must have been hit by a car and ran under the house. I feel absolutely terrible about this, I loved this cat. He followed me around everywhere, he was my baby. I wish I would have looked under the house when he went missing. I could have helped him.

oh I am so sorry, that is just horrible. Don't try and do what ifs. It wasn't your fault at all.

Thanks everyone. Sebastian was one of the sweetest cats I had ever met, and I am still pretty traumatized over this event. Its hard to look at Gregory because he is a mini me of Sebastian. I am glad though that I found closing, and I know what happened to him, instead of moving (In 10 days) and not knowing where he is.

I still have yet to even see Paris. My mom said she saw her on the porch the day before yesterday, but she ran off and went under our house. I didn't see her when I was down there, but there are curves down there and she could have easily hidden. My bedroom window is open, some living room windows are open without screens...so she can climb back in if she can figure it out. I left food and water outside for her, and a cat crate with a blanket since its been raining these past few days on and off. The next step is posting missing cat flyers.

If all else fails we will get a cat trap and put wet food in it.

I'm sorry for your loss. When I was about 5 my kitten got hung.. We burried her and all but I don't remember being horribly upset because I hadn't even had her for a whole day and she was a stray. But it is horrible to lose an animal and I am very, very sorry.

You can go to the shelter and borrow traps.. Just be sure not to get attached to any other cats you may catch!

I just wanted to let everyone know I finally got Paris inside. I sat outside the vent she used to get under the house for about 30 minutes very quietly, and didn't move. It was pretty cold out, and I didn't have a sweater..so I decided I would count down from 60 and then go inside...I got to 5 and out comes an arm lol. SO I sat still a bit longer and she ran out. I blocked off the hole to under the house, and followed her to my porch. She was like a completely different cat, she acted like she had NO idea who I was she was so scared. I almost got her on the porch but she ran into my neighbors yard and I walked after her, and then she ran back to the vent and starting meowing her head off when she found out it was closed, luckily she submissively stayed there and I was able to pick her u. Once she was inside and on my bed she was back to being the sweet Paris I knew.
