in 3 years i have had 7 trainers. 2 moved to a different state, 1 died, 1 got pregnant and stopped teaching, 2 had really bad school horses that aren't at my level, and my sort of current one that i dont want anymore also has bad school horses. im sick and tired of switching instructors all the freaking time. my current one lets me ride this ancient qh (a beg. horse that spooks alot so no one wants to ride him) but i dont feel as if im improving at all. I want to take lessons with this lady who has only one school horse (all of her clients have their own horses) but he is like a 15 year old former grand prix horse, unfortuanatley her lessons are super expensive. i dont now if i should try riding without a trainer for awhile. does anyone have any tips? I have this habit of riding with really low hands does anyone have any tips to break this habit (other than keep on reminding myself to raise my hands)? right now im working on collected/extended/working trot, halfpasses, and getting the horse into a decent frame. i would like to be jumping but my instructor does not have any horses that can jump.
