There are currently over thirty horses in desparate need of adopters, foster homes, sponsors and donations. There are many ways to help these horses if you are not capable of adopting. Please email me if you would like to help: asbdream@yahoo.com

Everyone who is looking for a good horse, should look through the Horses at Saddlebred Rescue. Many are broke to ride, and some also to drive.

I will even be willing to help you find a boarding barn. Just email me your location, and I will help you.

Adoption fees are very reasonable.

There are so many that I would take home in a heartbeat, if we had an extra stall. Hopefully, sometime this year we will be able to take on a foster and maybe even adopt.

For pictures, details, and updates, check out their topics here: http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=2

Jake – SHARP EARED! Very cute chestnut gelding who’s about 15.2 and 17 years old. He’s blind in one eye but apparently no one ever told him because he doesn’t act like there’s any problem at all. Quick Lee – Chestnut mare, heading back to NWS after some time with a foster mom so she can find her new forever home. Very well mannered, not quite beginner ready because she has a quick trot.
http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=820

Misty – 17 y/o ELEGANT chestnut mare, was starving when ASCPA seized her but now she’s fat and sassy. Good girl but needs regular work and conditioning to get rid of the hay belly. A little low in the back.
http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=776

Teddy- 10 y/o 16h chestnut gelding, just like his name sounds he’s a sweet boy. Smooth gaits but a little nervous. Fostered 12.26.07 Updates coming! http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=934

Rudy – 15ish gelding around 15.2hh or so, willing to work but currently more of an advanced horse because he has a big motor (who doesn’t love that?) Easy on the ground, stands still to mount.
http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1245

Slim Jim – Chestnut gelding, around 15.2 and 18ish y/o. He’s a game fellow who starts off a little nervous but tries hard and does 3 gaits. Puts in 110% and needs some pitchfork princesses to love him.

Video: http://saddlebredrescue.com/jmolback/Videos/Slim_Jim.wmv

Michaelangelo – Dark liver chestnut gelding 15ish y/o and has obviously had some training in his life. He’s currently recovering from an abcess. Good manners on the ground and would do great with having one or two riders to work with him and keep him relaxed.
http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1084

Ninja Girl – 12ish y/o 15.3h chestnut mare, quite pretty, would be a star hunter or sport horse (moves in that frame.) Blonde!
http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1130

Dancer – Chestnut gelding, looks like he was gaited at one time.
http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1237

Slinky – 3 y/o bay gelding, kind boy, doing three very smooth gaits (with a w start to canter.) Little low in the back. Needs someone to help him be all he can be! http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1233

Luna Lovegood – Beautiful little mare , 5-9 years old, 15.2 hands, was scared of cars but in the ring she was very good. Could be a show horse with a bit more work. http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1312

Splash- 15.3, age approx 17, Gelding, good on ground work, grooming and handling. Prefers outside riding and had some sticking points under saddle inside. He has been at NWS since July. He has been driven recently and is doing quite well. Pictures to come.
http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1334

Elaine (Jerry's Friend) 12.10.07 - Elaine is 12ish 15.3 hands and is a nice typey mare. This mare lunged well, easy to deal with on the ground, not on the road long as her legs are clean, went right to the rail, knew the routine, needed w start for the canter, and hope we can find papers as she'd do well at small shows. http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1370

Hagrid, A Big Good Soul 12.10.07 Doug started to learn how to post on Hagrid and as Doug got better Hagrid got fatter and now he steps right up. Hagrid likes to work and he loves people. This horse is just about bomb proof but he is not lazy. Hagrid trots but today he did do a little gait of some kind. As this gelding has gotten fatter and healthier he as even been more willing to canter.
http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1369

Jerry Seinfeld 12.10.07 - He is about 16 hands no white whats so ever and is around 15ish years old. Very easy to do all the ground stuff with and was easy to tack. Jessie had no problems getting on and he stood still at the mounting block, but he did trot off, no buck just go forward. This horse is quite the sport and he did do all three gaits. Seinfeld knew what a canter cue was and he did canter really well only playing around a little bit. I do not think this horse is a beginner horse as he does have a bigger motor. I think he would make a good practice horse, or a horse for better riders.

Dori 12.10.07 -- Our favorite! 5 years old, 15.3, Mare with recent training and in excellent shape, good sport horse or dressage prospect, LOVES people, very quick to learn, deer fine.
Dori, who was ridden this week by a very experienced hunt seat person who was able to transform Dori into a sharp hunter/dressage prospect. Dori responded easily to her rider's requests, rounded out, and in twenty minutes became a horse you'll be sorry you missed. The rider doesn't have an indoor arena which is the only reason she wasn't loaded on the trailer.

http://forum.saddlebredrescue.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1494

Josh Grayson 1.14.08 - 11ish, 16.1 hands, gelding. Really tries hard to please, canter needs work, Amish child & Jessie highly recommended him, smooth gaits. Blind in left eye.

Every horse rescue I know of this year is overflowing. Because of the droughts and hay issues, there have been a record number of cruelty cases and impoundments. :(

Yes, the horse market is CRAP anymore. One of the major causes is the closing of the slaughter houses that processed horses in the US. Sad, but true.

There are many reports of horses taken to the general run of the mill stockyards auction, and when they are not sold, they are abandoned.

The pony Burby at SBR, someone actually put him on thier trailer when no one was around. They went to go get thier trailer and saw this "Hairy Thing" in thier trailer.

A lot of these horses at the Saddlebred Rescue actually come from the Amish. Not all, but most. The Amish buggy horses are predominantly Saddlebreds and Standardbreds.

Luckily Saddlebreds have a very distinctive look, which makes it easier to pick out amongst the masses(and to a trained eye, some can actually find thier true identities just by look). The brokers will actually hold back the Saddlebreds that they buy for the SBR folks to come look at and take(they haven't turned down one yet).

I wish there was something I could do to help, but we're all full here. ): I'll try and spread the word at least, and such. Burby is absolutely adorable tho.

Oh, Burby just has the kindest eye. Look at that sweet little face as they are de-burring him. He's a nice old guy.

Bruises, if you are interested, we are in the final stages of creating a notebook of all the horses available. If you would be interested in compiling one and taking it to any horse function you happen to go to, we think it would help a lot. I am waiting anxiously for them to be finished, because I am really excited about them.

That sounds like a real good idea. :3 Dunno if I'll be going to any horse functions any time soon tho, but good luck with getting them done and handed out.

Thank you so much. They are such a simple, cheap and easy concept that I am hoping will do the trick.
