just wondering what is everyones opinion on rolkur (sp) a.k.a. hyperflexion? It is predominatley used in the dressage world and is used by some top riders like Anky.

While I don't know much about dressage in general, from what I've heard about hyperflexion, I don't like it. I think it's cruel to force a horse to keep its head like that for such periods of time, especially when asking them to do such work at the same time. A horse with their neck like that gets really effed up balance. I can imagine it hurting too.

It looks beautiful, but thats what they said about bearing reins a hundred years or so ago when it was fashionable to force horses to carry their heads unnaturally high to make them look "spirited". I don't like draw reins and stuff like that either, natural is better in my opinion.
