I've just plain old not been around. I'm 37 years old and have a family, and go to school full time, plus have a household to run and other things to worry about. I'm sorry you feel slighted, but some of us are very busy. Try not to take it personally. Most of my time online is spent researching things for papers to write. I'm an English and Literature major, and we've always got papers to write and things to pontificate. LOL! PLUS---I help moderate 2 other web site forums.

I don't understand why you need help. You have a tank. Your tank is cycling. You are choosing fish, and your fish choices sound fine. Where, exactly, is the problem?

what exactly is your problem

my problem is that i don't know much about these fish and my tank is not cycling and i know nothing about fish. all i know is what you have told me. my tank has no water in it. it will soon though when i do put fish in it and it is going well i would like to talk to u about the fish and there behavior. i hope that i haven't got on ur nerves or something. i will try those fish( one Angel fish, tetras, shark( can i get two sharks ? a 45gal tank is big enough that they can have there own sides?) or should i just get the cory cats to be safe?,can i get platies or swordtails?or should i just get the white clouds? also about the plecos yes or no? well i could really use your help. good luck in school and i hope i don't crowd your life.:bawling:

When it's done cycling. I wrote an article on fishless cycling and you might want to refer to it:

http://www.aquahobby.com/tips/fishless.html

It's helped many people jump start their tanks. When your tank is cycled, I'll be more than happy to assist you, but really, there isn't much else to discusss because you've got your lists of stocking ideas. An angel, some tetras, something else... you'll be set once the tank is cycled. Right now the only problem I see is that the tank itself isn't ready for fish. Get it ready, and then let me know.

( can i get two sharks

No. They don't like their own kind. If a person wants to attempt to keep more than 1 shark in a tank, it shouldn't be tried in anything smaller than a 100g tank, but I do not recommend even this. 1 shark per tank. Cories or a shark---that's personal preference, and up to you.

can i get platies or swordtails?

One or the other. And it depends on the stocking levels of everything else. If you want White Clouds, then get those instead. It's personal preference. No on the plecos. too filthy and lazy. I'd get otocinclus instead.

Once again, we should discuss this AFTER the tank is cycled. It's quite frustrating to keep discussing the same thing when the tank isn't even ready. Cycling is going to take a few weeks at the very least. We really should discuss fish at that time.

I fail to see why you're getting upset that I don't wish to talk about something we've discussed IN DEPTH already! I'm the one who should be getting irritated.

Didn't you take any notes from the AIM sessions? Did you lose the links to the old posts on this forum where we talked about that? Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to help someone IN DETAIL and then have them FORGET everything you said and insist on getting the information AGAIN?

Rather than act all bent out of shape about it, I suggest you go find those old posts and look at them.

As for your ammonia & the tank, yes, you need ammonia. You need a way to kick start the cycling process and using spring water is good, but there isn't any fish waste in it.

Well i got things in my tank and it is running with water and the filter. I have the heater in there but it is not on. my grandpa is telling me to get two Angelfish but then u tell me to get one. My grandpa has had experience with the Angelfish and he knows( i guess). well hope u write back.bye:girl:

Hi Calichick
I hope I can help you some, my boyfriend and I have had fish for awhile, he knows more than me, lol. There are a few articles we found that were helpful and thought it would be good for you to read them. It will help you fully understand why its's necessary to cycle and how to start the process.

http://freshaquarium.about.com/cs/biologicalcycle/a/nitrogencycle.htm

The second link describes all the freshwater fish (From liveaquaria.com) and their behaviors. It was very helpful to us, describes each fish and how they get along with others, so you can make the best decision of the fishies you want!

http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/scateg.cfm?siteid=21&pCatId=879

Hope I could help you some and I sure hope you are feeling better after your hospital stay.

Hi
Your welcome, anytime ;) It looks like you have done tons of research on your fish. I read through the list of what you want to get and did some research for me, ha, and they all seem to be compatable. As for checking the water, there are a few things you can do. You can get pH kits, nitrogen and amonia kits at the petstore. They range from $8-50. Here is a link of one I found, for an example. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?siteid=6&pCatId=4574
Or, my boyfriend recommends also, you could take a sample of the water to the pet store.
If those prices above are a little too much (I don't know if you are paying yourself ;) ) atleast get the pH kit for $8 to get started.
Hope I could help. Wow, that's terrible, meningitis!:( I hope you are feeling better.

DANG, that's alot of stuff for a little kit!! (hahaha lol) Ok, yesterday i went to petsmart and (they had pet adoption day with kitties and puppies. i want one:bawling: ) i got 8 green fire tetras. they did have the glowlight, but they really weren't that pretty. they didn't have the cardnal. I think that the green fire is really pretty. So now they are in my tank alone. before i put them in i put in stress stuff and conditioner. then i put them in the water. so now i want to get my Dwarf neon's. i have fake plants in my aquarium and some of the ordaments. I don't buy the ordaments or the fish, because i payed for the aquarium and the filter and the heater and the thememeter and the conditions and the lite. that all cost me $400.00. so i'm broke. yea the mengengitis sucked totally. i couldn't get up or anything. i couldn't walk or sit up. so that made it hard to eat and go to the bathroom. and all of that WONDERFUL stuff.

thanx  :p :musicman: :bouncy3:
