Chelsea i my 7 year old German Shepherd, 2 weeks ago we went for our normal daliy walk which we enjoy when i was jumped from behind by a man, He punched me in the face and tried to pull me down i screamed and i then saw Chelsea running towards us bearing teeth and les up. Before i knew what was happening Chelsea had hold of this mad man and was attacking him biting his arms and legs, i was hit again and then he kicked Chelsea but she would'nt let go it was so terrifing. The next ting i knew the man had let go to try and get Chelsea of him which gave me a chance to kick him between the legs and run off, still Chelsea would'nt come untill i was far enough away, i then called her and she came. We ran home i was in such a state not because i had been attacked but because someone had kicked my dog, after making sure Chelsea was ok i of course rang the police.
I can't beleive this was my dog Chelsea who untill now has shown nothing but softness and kindness she even plays with my mouse and bunnies.
I owe her my life god knows what would of happened to me if she was'nt there.
So chelsea this is to say thankyou, i love you very very much.:daisy:

That is a very touching story. Dogs really are mans (and womens) best friend aren't they?
If they see a pack mate under attack, it is natural for them to try and defend them as your dog did for you which is why I feel so much safer when I'm with my dogs. I used to walk for miles as a kid with 5 or 6 dogs, depending on how many we had at the time, and even if I was down the feilds on my own, I always felt safe with them. Monty, a Border collie male (Who was normally a big fuss pot with people) we used to own did show protective tendancies if I was approached by hostile people although he never attacked them because they didn't actually attack me. I'm sure he wouldn't have thought twice had they gone for me though and they knew it.
I was approached by a bunch of school bullies who threatened to throw me down a steep bank while out with my dogs and Monty came and stood right next to me, body pressed against my leg and staring up dubiously at the other kids who noticed this themselves. I could feel him grumbling under his breath. The other dogs where close by, waiting. The kids never threw me down the banking as you can imagine, LOL and I managed to get out of it only because of the dogs.

Another time, a friend and I found this den and were sitting in there talking. I had Hyde with me on the leash (terrier mix). Suddnely, this lad a year older than me at school turned up with a couple of others and started going off at us for being in his den. He started to kick my friend repeatedly while she was sitting on the floor then stopped to have another shout at us then resumed kicking her. All of a sudden, Hyde jumped up and grabbed hold of his leg and he stopped kicking and jumped back. In the end, he and his mates left but we also left after they had gone because we no longer felt any enjoyment being in that particular den. Hyde had defended my friend and I'm quite sure he would have done the same for me.

There was a serial rapist in the south of the UK at large for quite a while and one of the women who escaped from him only did so because her dog bit him when he tried to attack her just like yourself. The rapist has since been caught though. He was at large for a few years and raped young girls as well as women.

Well done to your dog for being the hero and I hope they catch the sicko who attacked you before he gets somebody else who isn't fortunate enough to have a faithful, brave canine companion at their side.

I wouldn't be without my dogs.

Wow those stories are unbelievable! I used to walk my dog of a night time by myself and always felt safe. One night there was a story of a girl my age who had been raped at 6pm and was dragged off the main highway and into a park to do so. That happened 10 minutes away from where I live. I stopped walking of a night time then and that was nearly a year ago. The man has never been caught.
It's amazing what a dog will get you out of and I now walk with a friend when I walk of a night but I only feel safe cause of the dog! I'm glad that you and your dog are both ok, it probably has made you a bit afraid to walk though. I would be terrified!
