my budgie is very timid, i guess is the right word to use. he will sit on my finger and nibble on me, doesn't seem to mind being handled once he is out of his cage. every time i put my hand in he runs away. when i just leave him in his cage he will sit relatively still for hours and hours. not doing anything. i was under the impression that budgies do a lot more and like to play wih toys. would getting another budgie help this at all? and he has only been home for a few days, will he become more active as he adjusts? if anyone could answer this or know what is happening, i would be very happy to hear it.

Hi Steph,
you have answered your own question here really... http://petshub.com/ubb/smile.gif
he will adjust as he gets used to his new surroundings and the fact that you can already get him to sit on your hand goes to show that someone has already spent a wee bit of time with this bird so it should be ok quicker than most.
to put another bird in with him could mean that you lose may this tameness ha has already as he will then 'learn' from his own kind.
Dont have to many toys in the cage as clutter is very uncomfortable for them.
hope it all works out with you both...

My budgie is also inactive, but i have had him for around a month! my friend has a budgie she is thinking abi=out bring him over to see how my budgie reacts to other budgies! is that a good idea or should i just get another bird for Izzy to play with?

that is a good idea but watch if you let the birds out together that they dont fight.they dont usually fight but some are more fussy than others if they do just skare them away and they will fly off in different directions but do not frighten the bird as this distreses it hope this helps.
