please help, both my hamsters have something wrong with them. In the morning or evening when I clean them they stay in bed and one makes squeaky noises. They go all shakey when they walk and keep falling over. It looks like they are in a deep sleep. They sometimes have fits and I go in and they just sit there still with their heads between their legs. then later on they appear normal again. Are they hibernating??? PLEASE HELP!! I think they might die!!:bawling: :bawling:

I dunno what that could be. I have never heard such a thing before. The only good advice that I can give is to keep a close eye on them and if they still carry on that way then take them to see an exotic vet. That does seem strange though. I hope all goes well. Keep me posted.

Since they are together I assume they are dwarfs. I know little about dwarfs but it sounds serious. Better call a hamster vet and ask for a phone call back. They usually do that when they have time for free. You can then decide what to do, but do it fast!

They are still bad I am going to take them or ring up the vet and ask. Sorry about the confusion they are not in the same cage, they are both syrians in different cages. That is what worries me is that one got it in one cage then the other in his cage!! They live in the same room but can't see each other, at the moment i am separating them.

Wish me luck!!:bawling: :bawling:

I have 15 Syrian hams in one room (and 12 gerbils) all housed separately, of course. They surely can smell each other, and, for variety for them, I let them explore each others' bins (I switch them).

It is no problem for me. Or them. Of course I woulkd never do that if one had a disease.

In your case the symptoms remind me of a stroke, but that would only be for ONE hamster. So I don't know. Keep searching for hamster info sites on the Werb, and call a hamster vet Monday morning.

Best wishes.

All I can say is get then to a vet as soon as possible, could be some kind of poisoning maybe, gas in the room or a spray maybe?
