My Black Bear Hamster puts seeds in his wheel at night and then wheels with them in there. I think he likes the sound of the rattling, but it drives me crazy and hate to take down his wheel because he needs to excersise and he's so young only seven weeks old. I try taking out the seeds at night and replacing them with just fresh vegetables like lettuce and cucumber. Is this ok to do. I read that hammy's can have fresh vegetables at least once a day. Please help?????

There are wheels available with long slits in the bottom that let seeds fall out.
I forget if Wodent Wheels or Comfort Wheels (which you can find online with a Search) have that.
Actually, my 15 hams have never done that with the seeds in wheels with solid bottoms, such as SAM or CTs. Maybe they need a safer or better place to stash their food?

Yep I have critter trail x and he still does that. This is the critter trail that glows in the dark, but he takes his seeds in the wheel and wheels with the seeds in it. It's crazy.

Maybe if you washed everything, or just washed the wheel, changing the scent, would help??
Mine stash in bin corners, or in the CT2 petting zone, or Habitrail outposts. I am surprised about stashing food in an exposed place such as a wheel. (?). usually they like safer more secluded places. And then they PEE ON IT!

Don't give lettuce or cucumber everyday it will give your hammy the "runs" a little bit once or twice a week is enough, they love broccoli and carrot which is not so watery, but again once or twice a week only

You know that's very strange that you say carrots. My last two Hammy's would not eat carrots, only if they were cooked. That's weird too, most Hammy's love fresh carrots and things. Oh well each one is different you know?
