While out getting a 20gallon Long tank for my gerbilies..i took a stroll over to the small animals section and looked at the gerbils that where there and right next to them where Siberian Dwarf Hamsters.. of course they where as cute as can be..(a friend of mine bought two thinking they where boys and ended up with tons of babies..) So i decided on getting just one..since i read on the card that they like to be solitary (but they had like 7 in a home which is a contridiction) His name is Valefor.. and has alrady reaked havoc on my roomie by drawing blood when he bit her.. (my friends bit me a few times,so i knew about it)
All in all a good day.. a few of my gerbilies got a bigger home..and i got a new little furry guy..

ps. If anyone has any information about these guys it would greatly be appreciated .. id definatly like to know a lot about them as i do about gerbils.
Thanks in Advance!!

Congratulations on your new dwarf! I keep the same kind as you have(Siberian's is just another name for Campbells dwarfs) If you do have any questions I could help you. You can keep them in pairs, some just prefer to be alone though. About the biting, I only have one dwarf that bites me, she's a little crazy I think(and old and blind, so that my also be some reasons) My other dwarfs are wonderful little sweeties. You should hold them a little everyday to keep them tame and used to your scent. When does your little guy bite you? WHen you go to pick him up? Or after you are already holding him?

Well i learned something new today.. a siberian dwarf is the same as a campbells dwarf.. coolness..
He bit my roomate around 6pm. he was burrowing n she was going to pick him up out of his home and play with him a little while..and he turned around and bit her..he seems rather agressive in his home..and if he dosent see ur hand and smell it first before picking him up..he also likes to be facing u while picking him up lol. But im sure this is all just happening because he isnt used to us. This morning..i was a little intimidated by the little guy cause i know they have some ouchy bites.. i say worse then a gerbil..but when he crawled in his food bowl i scooped the bowl and him up and let him crawl into my hand lol.. i know chicken me lol..but no one got bit today so far..we make sure he smells our hands before trying to pick him up... is this alright?
Do u know any good websites with information about them??
thanks!

Yes, Let them see and smell you first, they almost always get scared if you get them from behind, and stuff like that. I let mine know I'm about to hold them. I talk to then and get their attention, then when they are looking at me, I put my hand in their home flat so that they can walk over it and sniff it. Then, I either grab them, or lift them out when they walk on my hand. Most of the time though mine kind of beg to get out, they stand up and start trying to climb out of the tank when they hear me  Oh, I can't remember if I told you this, but hold them a little everyday, cause if you don't , they may start to forget human touch and turn wild again. ABout the sites, I don't know them off the top of my head, but I will find them cause I do know a few. I'll post them when I find them
