I am having some trouble breeding my two syrian hamsters, and I was wondering if anyone would have any advice. My female syrian is your basic tan and white banded, while my male is a panda bear. I've had my female for several months, and she is now an adult. My male, I've only had for one month. He's still a bit small, and I'm starting to wonder if he is too young to breed. I heard males need to be at least four months to breed, and he was two-three months when I first got him (or so I was told). I have attempted to breed them three times. The first two times I noticed the female was still in heat, so I allowed them to mate again. I'm waiting this time, to give my male a bit more time to mature. However, could one of them be infertile? I want to breed them as soon as possible, before my female loses the ability. From what I know, females are only fertile for the first year of their lives. Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance!

why are you trying to breed your hamsters when there are already so many unwanted pets in the world? yes hamsters too... our shelters are overrun with hamsters...if you want more why don't you rescue? if you want money why not get a job?

Excuse me? I'm not selling them. I want to breed my hamsters because that is what I wish to do. If you have a problem with this, take it up with some activists or something. This is a place for pet lovers, advice, and discussion, not rallying against us who wish to have more pets to love.

It is also my right to voice my opinion.

Yes, I agree, but that doesn't mean you have to come on here and critisize me for wanting to breed my hamsters. It is my right to do so, and I do not appreciate being told what to do concerning my pets. You don't see me running around, telling you how to handle your pets, or anyone else's, for that matter. Therefore, I would appreciate it if you cease to direct me in where to get my hamsters, how to raise them, or to 'get a job.' Thank you, and have a nice day. :cool2:

If the female is not ready they will fight. To tell if she is ready pet her on the back and if she stands still with her tail sticking up she is ready. Other wize she and the male will fight because the female isn't ready to acept a male yet.
Ihope this helps!

I know HOW to breed hamsters, I've already done this several times. My problem is, AFTER breeding them, she is not pregnant. She will begin seasoning again.

Maybe one of the is sterile, or the male is too young
