o, i just picked her up and her paw is almsot covered in blood, im really worried, is she ok?

Look, and see where the blood is coming from. Maybe you could try to stop it. I would advise you to take her to the vet as soon as possible, this sounds very serious. Good luck, and keep us updated.

the blood is coming from her paw, and it doesnt seem to be bugging her. she is licking it a lot though, and I'm not sure what could have caused this. earlier today she was perfectly fine, but then this evening i put her in her ball and she didnt seem to be as active as she usually is when she is in it. maybe she stepped on something sharp? I think she has pine or cedar bedding, and there are sometimes where you will get a hard sharp piece in there. I'll keep an eye on her and let you know how she is :-D thx for the help!

Your welcome, but I have something else to say with this new found information. Pine and cedar shavings are bad for small animals. It will cause respritory problems. Aspen is better to use, or care fresh. I use aspen, just try to change her bedding to something other than pine or cedar. Good luck

thx for that, i knew the bedding could be a problem, but its never been a problem with other hamsters ive encountered. i do have a bag of carefresh, but my cat is currently using that (its a long story...) and seeing how we just bought a bag of bedding my parents wouldn't be up to buying more, especially because we arnt sure if that is a problem. i could try to look at her paw and see if anything looks severe, and if that's the case then i guess its off to the vet.

I agree with SaffireWolf. Ceader bedding is bad for hamms.

I have pine beeding and it hasn't hurt my hamm. They look like pellets. It's called All Pet Pine. Is that okay?

well, i told my parents and they didn't seem to thrilled about having to buy more bedding again, so i told them that id keep an eye on her and if the bedding was a problem then we'd have no choice. and about the care fresh stuff, i don't know if we still have any because when we change the cat litter it takes about a whole bag of that stuff, and my cat HAS to use it because he got declawed and we're not supposed to use regular litter, and he already has an infection. im just wondering, is the aspen bedding the reddish stuff?

Aspen is not reedish. It is a white or yellowish color.
I'm glad she's okay! :D

You probably shouldn't have let them breed. Just ask a bunch of people you know if they will have a hamster. If no one wants one, then try to find a pet store that doesn't treat animals horribly.

Haha, I'd like to know how Snoopi bleeding turned into breeding. Actually, now that it's about 1 month later, I think I know why she was bleeding. Her nails are really long, so maybe she cut herself. Luckily, on Monday she's getting them cut.
