Help Please have new babies and mom has passed

Hi all,

My Daughter went out and bought to guinea pigs at one of our local pet stores, and come to find out Stella was pregnant, when she had them is where we found out. they were all doing well the babies at 2 weeks old saturday Mar 14/09.

I cleaned the cage today and all seemed tobe okay,I held Stella and she was moving around and playing with the babies same with Oreo, so I went out for about 5 hours and when I came home something did not sound right in my daughters room, I went to the cage and found that Stella had died, the babies were near her and when I opened the cage they ran into the house in their cage.

I picked up Stella to see if there was anything but she was gone, it brought tears to my eyes as my daughter does not know yet she is away tonight.

The babies have been eating the food and drinking some water but still feeding from Stella, what do I do now with Stella gone will they be okay or is that a special milk I should get them I have no idea what to do, they seem to be fine I held them and one is heavier then the other but that could be normal.

oh I don't know.

Please someone give me some advise so that I can make sure that babar and cosmos the babies have the best chance ever to have a good life.

Kitten formula. No joke. I raised 3 baby mice on the stuff. And they wont need much seeing as they are eating solid food, and drinking water. Feed them about every 2 hours with an eye dropper, as much as they want.

This is incorrect and quite dangerous. Guinea pigs are not omnivores like mice are. They should NOT be given kitten milk. Baby guinea pigs are born fully furred, walking, and with eyes open, and can eat solid food from day one. They should be fed a handfeeding mix of hay if they need additional nutrients, but NOT artificial products like KMR.
