pinkies
anyone feed pinkie mice o your gliders? i do, they like them, & it doesnt make a mess. just make sure they are small & frozen, mine will eat them frozen. i feed them each one about every week or so, or however often we have then available. one way to know your expecting female will get the protine she needs!!

I feed my gliders pinkies...about twice a month...
Thanks for sharing!! A lot of people think it might be bad for gliders; actually it's an excellent form of protein

i agree, i dont think everyone knows what they are talking about. they just think its gross. but in all actuallity its VERY good for them to get the pinkies. Yes, too much could be bad, but the right amount is VERY bad. it helps with bones, teeth, & everything else that makes their little bodies run. (its not messy if they are frozen. & you dont have to do it often) a lot of times the female will eat her young if you dont give her enough protien.so thats a good way to do so.

I don't own a glider, though I have looked into them as pets. Still don’t think I’ll get one, at least not in the near future.
I don't think I could feed any of my pets baby animals. When my Gerbils need a boost of protein I give them cat food or a dog cookie. Egg is good for them also. I had snakes, and I fed them fish & crickets, but never mice. If there is another option that I don’t have to feed a pet to my pets, I’ll go with it. But that’s “MY” personal opinion. No worries I’m not going to say, do or don’t. It’s to all their own.

Pinkies are a great sources of protein, and they are frozen so I don't feel bad about it. I wish my boa would eat them frozen, but she won't she will only eat live mice, and I always throw it in the cage and then go upstairs and do something for like 5 minutes.....I fed my glider 1 pinkie every other weekend, and she lived to the nice age of 15 and never had any problems. I went on vacation for a week and had a friend watching her, and this time she got spooked and then got out and glided right into the door and was in a concussion and then it just got worse.....pretty bad, so now I don't go on a vacation unless my mother is available to watch the gliders. I know there a lot of people who think that pinkies are bad for them, but I don't think they are unless you are feeding them to many.

Thats good that you have your own opinion on things, but you have to see it from a gliders point of view as well. You eat meat probly, right? well thats their meat. if you say they should get something else, then you shouldnt eat cows chickens, pigs, fish, & so on. the should be able to have all that they need, & would be able to have in the wild. no one is stopping them from eating mice/birds/& whatever else in the wild. i try to keep things as it would be for them if they were a free glider in the wild. (on certain levels) i do, however, feed mine egg at times, & once a week to every other week a pinky.(a gerbil is A LOT DIFFERENT compared to a glider!) they also get crickets as well as meal worms, but for an expecting mother that isnt always enough, & she will eat her joeys if she doesnt contain what she needs. You CANNOT feed them cat food or dog food, at least it is NOT recommended at ALL! that can cause many health problems for them. research will tell you that!!! (so if you plan to get one i think you should study a bit more.) i hope that didnt sound mean, i just think people think having them is easy, when anyone that has them will disagree!! (at least most i know!!) anywho, just my opinion as well. :queen:
