More Info Please

I have some questions about Sugar iders.

I was unaware iders were meat eaters in the wild. Bugs I would have guessed, but never thought other animals. Do they hunt, or eat all ready dead things? And what animals do they eat? What else is in there diet in the wild?

Thanx

Some people feed their iders mealworms or pinkies. They can also eat cooked chicken. It's not necessary for their health, but i hear they like it as a treat occasionally.

Hi there i have 3 gliders & breed them, it is VERY important that they get meal worms or crickets.. pinkies they dont have to have, but it is smart to do, especally an expecting mother. in the wild they would eat baby birds, dead animals, mice, ect ect ect, anything small & more than likely a baby. their other part of a balanced diet is necter, bugs, greens, & fruit. in captivity they eat bugs, pinkies,a proven diet called BML, veggies fruit, a special necter, water, & a whole bunch of other things. they can eat almost anything you do. no salt, sugar, seasonings, ect ect ect. & you always want to watch the amount you give. an over weight glider is VERY unhealthy & will not live up to how long it could if it were fed right. if you are considering getting one PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do a lot of research, not just a month, but at LEAST a year. there are so many things to learn for/from them!!!!!!!!!!! i cant tell you HOW important that really is!!!!!!!! go look at my site, found under my sig. maybe that will have a few helpful things... (but do, do a lot of research.) there are a lot of hazards for such a small being. :angel6: good luck in your search!

Awsome thank you.
I do not plan on getting one. I'm just curious. I love to learn, that's all. These guy's are such interesting creatures, and i remember when people around here had them as a "fad", it was so sad.
All my pet's have been researched first, and yes sometimes it takes me over a year to decide if it really is the pet for me. (I've had pets from snakes to horses) And I have no problem admiting when they are not.

What does this BML diet consist of? Is it like a kibble or pellet?
I would just think it would be a little difficult to find this food since sugar gliders are not very popular around here. Is there somewhere specific people buy this, and can you just give them all the other foods you mentioned and not this feed? I know certain animals need a specific vitamin and what not from a feed.

Thank you for your replys, sorry for all the questions.

BML is not a pellet. It stands for Bourban's Modified Leadbeater. It's a mix of ingredients--you can see what the diet is here: http://www.angelfire.com/nb/sugarglider/diet/bml1.html

like said no its not a pellet, more like ice cream.. or at least the texture. =] it as a lot of different inger. it has baby food, wheat germ honey, baby food cereal, reptile additives..(for calcium & vitamins) it has all the stuff they need in it.. no it would not be oke to just feed them the BML or just the fruits & veggies. they need some of each! =]
