Degu and Chinchilla?
Are Degus related to Chinchillas? I heard they were from a person at a petstore but I dont know if its true?

I guess they could be considered cousins.
The degu is a a member of the octodont rodent family in the rodent sub-order caviomorph. The chinchilla family is also part the the caviomorph sub order of rodentia. However, genetic testing is suggesting that they aren't rodents at all and that they should be reclassified. They are also found in the same regions in South America, especially in the Andes Mountains, so they're neighbors as well as cousins. |

I honestly dont know but if there simiular enough Ill be begging for another pet they sure look alike though
