Question I need your advice with my piggie:)

Hey Everyone.

I have a mini potbellied pig and i need to bring her to serve as a therapy pet at a nursing home by next month. My problem is every time I pick her up she screams. How do I keep her from screaming every time I pick her up? I have had her for 2 1/2 months. Do you have any suggestions?

When I had two pbp's, I would put their belly on my knees while sitting on something so they were used to not standing on the ground. I also insisted on having them lay on their back while i rubbed them and then have them lay on top of me while I lay down and pet them. Soon I could do anything to them (that was not uncomfortable) without squeels or even grunts. A month after I had to give them away, I visited them and they squeeled at me doing anything to them so you have to keep it up and do daily handling.

that's good advice, I have the same issue, mu HATES being picked up. Pigs are an animal of prey, and being picked up scares them because they have no control. just try picking her up daily so she gets used to it and knows you're not going to hurt her. Mu's ok now to pick up to put in the tub or lift over the baby gate
but anything other then a few seconds it sounds like we're slautering him
