Vets??

Im not saying Im actually accepting your offer. Which was extremly nice, but I am considering it. I have heard so much on here about people that are really really happy with thier vets. So I am wondering what vets they were (in case the were a chain).

I'm not sure if there was a thread, that was started earlier, that this post was aimed at as I have not had internet for almost a week now and am a little behind.

I was extremely happy with the vet that did stu-ee's neuter and initial check up. I have since moved and the one that I have recently found has also proved to be good as far as I know.

The vet I had in Saskatoon (thats where I used to live) was actually a student at the clinic at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, so it wasn't a chain. Now I don't know how anybody else feels about taking their animals to a vet college clinic but I have had wonderful experiences there. First of all they are somewhat cheaper and that is a huge relief for a student on a budget.

Now I think some people may not feel all that safe about letting their buns be taken care of by students, but at this vet college anyway, and all others I should hope, there is always as trained vet with them. The student that did his initial examination was extremely gentle and patient with stu-ee and he seemed quite at ease with her. She also did his neuter and he had no complications and was perfectly fine, running around and getting into trouble, as soon as he got home. I think the great thing about students is that they don't feel they know everything so they are extremely cautious with the animals. The actual exotics vet there also has a great reputation and you can actually see that she really loves her job.

There was actually a reality tv series done on this college on the Life Network (I don't know if any of you have seen this) called Campus Vets. Sorry if this got off topic.

What do other people think about teaching clinics?

kaycar, I am fine with teaching clinics as long as there is a professional vet around monitoring but I would feel safer if my bunny was in the hands of him not just by a student.
