Probably A Dumb Question

I have a dwarf hamster, if I were to get another dwarf would I be able it put it in with her? I mean I know I would probably have to split cage them for a while like with gerbils, but would they tweak and hurt eachother or would they get along after they get to know eachother through the divider?

I'm no expert, but they could get along. Depending on how old they both are and what their temperaments are like. Can't hurt to try right?

Well it all depends on if the hamsters come to like each other. I have 10 dwarf hamsters right now... I have 5 in two connected cages and 5 in another seperate cage. Your current hamster might not like having another hammie around but you can always give it a try... you never know they may like each others company. But be concious when introducing them to each other. If you have a play pen for them put them in their together after you split cage them for awhile and see how they react to one another, if they start to fight immediatley seperate them but if they get along then you can probably house them together.

there is no such thing as a dumb question.......

i belive it all depends on the hamsters personality. i have 2 female dwarfs that are littermates and they absolutely hate one another.

my cousin has 4 dwarfs and one of the four hates company.

you can try to introduce her with the other hamster on neutral ground (anywhere exept their cages when they claim territory, perhaps the floor or even your bed) also using the divider is a good idea.

if it doesn't work out you can just leave the divider in the cage.

I was just wondering because I only have one hamster right now and she is kind of a grump and my gerbs that are alone are grumpy but the ones with tank mates are alot happier and more fun to play with. So I was wondering if that would help her disposition to get a tank mate.
