superpet my first home, and question on tube

Hi - Spice escaped AGAIN from her crittertrail 1 last night, but luckily I found her within 10 minutes. Her cage has at least 6 pieces of duct tape on it from areas that looked unsecure to me (including the petting zone!) and here she opened the front door by herself, and even though I have it down inside a 64 quart n bin, she still escaped from the whole set up.

Today my mom bought her a SuperPet My First Home. It looks really secure, and was cheaper and bigger than the crittertrail 1. It has 3 stories!

I hope it will be a more secure home... I do still plan to set it down inside the 64 quart bin.

My question is, I have several of the tubes and tunnels from crittertrail that connect with the plastic rings. Is it safe to put those in the cage for her to climb through with the plastic rings attached? I reallly was hoping she could have some fun with those inside her new cage but didn't know if it would be safe for her to chew on those rings.

Thanks!

dori

It should be no problem to put those plastic rings in with your hamster. It will probably chew them, but you can always just put in some dog treats. Hamsters seem to love those dog treats, and whenever I give them to my hamsters they stop chewing their bars and stuff. Either way, chewing on plastic rings won't harm your hamster. Just check the rings occasionally to make sure their not starting to shred. If the plastic starts shredding the little pieces could get caught in it's throat. Hope that helps.

you could always jut put her in a bin.

I have my syryian in a 90quart sterilite bin, with holes drilled high in the sides and in the lid, she loves it. She has tons of space.
