Exclamation Born to Escape!

I need help with my little angel Bandit...It all started when we first got her, she was sitting on top of a pole that stuck out of the cage which was about 3 ft high. About 3 weeks before we took her, they said she had gotten out of the cage, into the males cage, got pregnant and was found in the store with 7 little babies. They said she had been getting out since the day she got there and they had no idea how because none of the other hammies had and the distance from the pole to the edges of the cage were like a foot and a half away from eachother! So we brought her home and named her bandit just because shes got these cute lil rings around her eyes and looks like a racoon! Little did we know her name would begin to mean something! She had five babies a week after we got her (musta got into the boys cage again before she came with us) and ever since shes been getting out of her cages! It doenst matter what type because I've tried them all! Fish tanks with screen tops and weights to hold down the lid, plastics with bars and latches ( two different types), just plastics ect. ect. Shes figgured out how to undo them all including locks and latches. The weird thing is she always chooses when she wants out. She doesnt do it all the time just on occasion. Because I'll put her back in the same cage...she wont come out for days or sometimes weeks. The only reason we keep finding her is because we have a great dog whos Ive trained for the situation! Any Ideas as to how I can keep this little bandit home bound?

Wow she got out of fish tank with a screen cover?wow smart little thing isnt she. What kind of cage is she in now?I would say if she is in a fish tank take anything the goes up to the screen top.And give her something to keep her mind off getting out.But that is still amazing to me how shes getting out. Good luck

Lightbulb

Put her in a thirty gallon Sterilite bin. These are too deep to get out of even if they knock over the wheel and stand on top of it. It is very unlikely she will attempt to gnaw out.

Get a playbin with new toys and stuff. Sprinkle food in it and let her forage. She will be less eager to get out of she can find some food, pouch it, and bring it back home.
