The sled dogs run

We run through fog, through wind, through storm.
Our feet gripping ice, and our fur keeps us warm.
Our lead runner, he's strong, steady, and fast.
We follow, determined, trying to pass.
Slowing each corner, but keeping close pace.
Trying to keep heads up, but the snows in our face.
My eyes are like glass, my reflection is white.
I hear a muffled voice, "GEE!" We all curve right.
Soft Wonderland around us, we are in bliss.
We hike in four paw drive, this we will soon miss.
As autumn will come, and the sled will be gone.
In our hearts we remember how we ran, how we won.
