question on rabbit breeds

I have owned rabbits in the past and am planning on getting one or two in a few months. I am planning on adopting them from a rescue or shelter. I have seen the aggression they get after puberty and want to get ones that are already fixed. (i can't afford to get one fixed, so going to a rescue will work for me, and for the homeless buns.) I am having surgery next month and will be laid up for a few months...that is why I am waiting to get a bun or two. Also I want to decide on which breed to get.

My question for everyone is....is their any certain breed(s) that are more affectionate and do better with younger kids? (like a 5 yr old, he knows how to handle animals, he just moves fast and can be loud, like any child) I think all buns are cute, so coloring patterns doesnt really matter to me. I just want one that will tolerate my son and loves attention.

I have had all kinds of pets and have found that rabbits are one of the best pets. I can't wait to have a bunny again. I am going to keep my bunny(s) in my bedroom with free run of the room. I have to clean it up and make it rabbit safe first of course. But it's the only room in the house that will work good for them. I don't want to keep them caged up all the time.

Any suggestions on what breed of rabbit to get would be greatly appriciated. Also, I am located in south central Pennsylvania; so if anyone knows of any good rescues around me that would be great too. I know of a few, but would like recommendations of who to go to and work with to get my bun. Thanks.

I have two english angoras. Both are total sweethearts and intact. I never let them play together becuase they are not spayed/neutered. You can tell from this photo Baron LOVES attention and will sit for hours to get petted.

ugh im an idiot i thought i wrote in the wrong thing for a minute . ok well there are some rabbit breeds that are more laid back (sleeping all day...) but not necisarily better with kids or more affectionate or whatever, but i think its great that you want to rescue(there are the best animals in rescue ) if the place you find (to rescue) has a shelter maybe there is one that is not as shy or a younger one then its easier to get used to new things. can i ask why does your sig says "needs a new home" by some of the animals but you want more?

I don't get it.

You are getting rid of animals because you say you are having surgery. Yet you want new pets? Why not keep the ones you want to get rid of instead.

this is why shelters are so full. because people get "sick of their pets" and get new ones.

I thought you were getting surgery and you couldn't take care of your animals. Why are you looking for more when you're still in the process of finding homes for the ones you "can't care for anymore?"
