ok here is my problem. I have a 22 yr old mare that I am wanting to get @ least 1 more foal out of. But she isn't cycling right. There for about 6 months you could set your watch by her coming in but now my mom said she is in and its only been 2 weeks since I had her @ the breeders. So we are thinking that she is cycling now because she isn't dropping eggs. but we are considering giving her that shot that will cause her to drop, but I was wanting some more opinions on that because I am not that familar with the side effects and I don't wanna do anything that may hurt my mare.

aleamon98, my advice is that you should not breed your mare ne more. I know it is dissopointing, but if she has become naturally infurtile, she is most likely too old to safely have another foal. If she is not physically able to get pragnent without any drugs, then even if she did get pragnant, there would be a good chance of her passing away during the delivery and losing the foal. So for the prevention of any accidents, please dont give her anyhting to force or encourage her to drop her eggs at her age:bounce:

Yes, I totally agree with GuineaPigGrrrl. *If you have to give them a shot for them to drop their eggs, then it's just not right to breed her. It's too much of a risk in my opinion. Or it might be that she has a cyst on one of her eggs. Have you had her checked for breeding soundness lately? You should never breed your mare unless you have this simple vetcheck done. I'm still getting foals out of my Arabian mares that are in their 20's. There is probably something going on with her not coming into heat. You need to have her checked for breeding soundness, and they will tell you what's wrong.

Good decision! She sounds like a really nice mare, I wish you the best of luck with her!
