I dont know much about Pot Bellied Pigs, but I know pigs in general are just awesome. Does anybody actually have a Pot Bellied Pig that is a member here? I think it would be interesting to learn more about them. If anybody does have a Pot Bellied Pig then make sure you tell us all about him or her. Thanks!

I don't have one but I know about them. Check some of the other forums on here for pics. They're like normal pigs, only not used for meat and tey're domesticated. They get fat, and can have spots and things. They don't have to be pink (duh). Try looking them up on google.

I actually forgot that I posted on this site...but, I ended up getting a pot belly. She is great...and so funny! She is about 90% house trained (litter/paper). She was about 80% trained the first week we had her (easier than any dog I've ever house broke!) She definately has her own personality. After doing my homework, we decided to get a little girl (males get tusks that have to be trimmed/filed and kept up). She shouldn't get very big...the breeder said she should be the "size" of a 40-45 lb. dog...but she will be much heavier. Right now, at 6 months, she is a little shorter than my beagle, and weighs about 28 lbs. She gets along with all my other animals (dogs, cats, birds, guinea pig). She doesn't stink either...we chose paper for her litter...and we just roll it up and throw it away daily. I taught her to spin in a circle for a treat...it only took a few times for her to catch on...now I have to teach her more tricks. She eats about 1 1/2 cups of food in the morning and at night. Her favorite treat is an apple. I'm not sure if all pot bellies are this great or if we just got a good one...but she is a great addition. The only complaint I have is that she has this "scream" if she doesn't get her own way...she has gotten spoiled! Other than that, she is as good a pet, if not better, than a dog...and actually, is alot like a dog...but she can't jump up on furniture. If I knew how to post pics on this site I would...
Anyway, just wanted to share my experience with pot bellies...Lea

I am a piggy momma too, I have Sammy he is 2 years old.
He is so wonderful, he loves to eat and has many favorites but he also hates some foods and wont touch them unless they are cooked. He hates squash, broccoli, and boc choy. He loves to have his belly rubbed and can do some tricks for treats. He knows how to turn a circle, sit pretty, kiss and wipe mouth on a hand towel after he eats instead of wiping it on me, little bugger. He is my pride and joy. He gets along with all my other pets, cats, rabbits and dogs. He loves children and hates loud noises, vacum cleaners, blow dryers and garbage truck day. Ohh and if he gets mad at me, he will go in our bedroom to bed and shut the door behind him like a mad teenager. hehe Thats a little bout my Sammy piggy. :8) ~Sam |
